In conjunction with a DesktopX theme i am working on, i need to be able to upload a RightClick theme to match it. I was wondering how this was done, as in, what do i need to do in RightClick to prepare it for being uploaded to WinCustomize? There seems to be only very limited options within the program, and no obvious ones that would help towards creating a theme...

Any sharing of knowledge on this would be great, thanks.

I suggest you create the theme in a particular folder and zip it (folder and all) for distribution. The person can then unzip to the C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\RightClick\Skins directory and he's good to go.

You really only need a few graphic files; background, menuitemmouseover, menuitemselected, separatoritem, and the arrows (up, down and right) in their normal, selected and grayed out states. The "guts" are in the "obskin" file. Open a text file in notepad and paste the contents of the "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\RightClick\Skins\WindowBlindsSkins\CurrentSkin\Popup\popup.obskin" file into it and then start editing the paths and file names to match yours. Getting the text positions is a bit tricky......I like to line up the items with icons and without so you'll have to adjust the "ItemIconBuffer_LeftOfIcon=" with the "ItemTextOnlyBuffer_LeftOfText=" to accomplish it. Frankly, it's a pretty easy program to skin. If you want a different sub menu style from the main menu it does get tricky. Good Luck.

There is also a skinning tool located in the " Right Click " Menu program folder

Look in folder for file marked skintool or skineditor.

It's Skintool.exe in the main RightClick directory. It doesn't package the files. It does give you some control over fonts and font colors but not much else.

I know..i've made quite a few of them that way and just zip them. This tool is good for Right Click menus that the font is not viewable ...But it will not allow you to edit tga's - Thats where skin studio works best
